AUDITIONS

"Raaganjali" - On-line vocal auditions by MalladiMedia. 

 

These vocal auditions aim to select outstanding performances by American youth in singing famous Annamacharya compositions.

The auditions will be judged by esteemed musician and guru Sangeetacharya Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam Garu.

Hailing from a traditional family of educationists and music lovers,  Sri Balasubrahmanyam is armed  with two Doctoral Degrees in Music - a Doctorate for Ph.D., (Music) from the University of Delhi and also ‘Sangeetacharya’, the Doctoral Title from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Miraj – a Deemed University, he has established himself as an eminent Musician, Musicologist, Composer and a Guru of high repute.    

He is the Founder-Director of ‘Bhairavi Sangeeta Academy’ (Centre for Training and Research in Music) at Hyderabad and is also the Publisher and Chief Editor of “PRANAVAM”, a bilingual quarterly music magazine.

AUDITIONS

ENTRY DETAILS

  • Auditions are open to all students and lovers of Annamayya Sankeerthanas between the ages of 8 and 30 years.

    • Potential Participants must be residing in the USA.

  • Registration fee is $25/participant.

    • This fee is non-refundable.

  • Participant age groups: Juniors 8-15yrs; Seniors 16-30yrs.

 

RECORDING DETAILS

  • Video of participant must be recorded using a video camera or a smartphone camera.

    • Recording of past performances are not permitted.

    • Studio recordings are not allowed - raw videos only.

    • Recording must commence with the participant stating name, age, city/state, composition name, thaalam, and raagam.

    • No need to include: Parent/guru name, etc.

    • Recording must include pallavi and at least one charanam of the composition.

    • Only tambura (sruthi) is allowed in the background. No other accompaniment is permitted.

    • Ensure that the thaalam is visible in the video.

 

SUBMISSION DETAILS

  • A participant can only submit one video entry.

  • Upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video.

  • Last day to submit entries is September 30th 2017*.

DISCLAIMER

  • Based on the entries received, we may need to conduct an additional on-line audition round or a final in-person audition, in Portland OR.

    • Participants will be informed in advance and they shall be solely responsible for their own travel arrangements & accommodations.
